| The British School of Seville, CBS, follows a curriculum based on the English and Welsh National Curriculum first formally established in 1988. This Curriculum covers education for pupils from 5 years, (Year One), to 16, (Year 11), In addition education for pupils 3 and 4 years old follows the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) for Nursery and Reception from the United Kingdom. Most classes at CBS are taught in English but the school believes strongly in the importance of Spanish culture and provides properly for the teaching of Language, Literature, History and Geography to the same levels that the Spanish educational system requires. At Secondary level students aged 15 and 16 (Years 10 and 11) will be prepared for the International General Certificate of Secondary Eduacation of the University of Cambridge (IGCSE). In the last two years of school education (Years 12 and 13 ) all students will be prepared for the Diploma programmes of the International Baccalaureate (IB). |
These programmes will be taught in both English and Spanish and the examinations can be taken in either English or Spanish. This Diploma Programme together with the IGCSE and the rest of the curriculum from Year One is fully validated under Spanish and International law so that no student needs to prepare separately to enter Spanish universities. The Royal Decree 806 in 1993 authorised schools following a foreign curriculum to be validated and from 2006 students do not need to take additional entrance examination. The curriculum is designed to help all pupils to discover their potential and use their talents to the full, so that every one can make a contribution. Subjects taught in the classroom are reinforced by an increasing range of extracurricular activities which will grow in tandem with our facilities. A strong emphasis is placed on skills, application of information, respect for the individual and for different ideas. |
